Prajak Phetsatham, 51, was arrested at a house in Chiang Mai’s Muang district, police said on Tuesday. Officers seized stolen assets including Buddha amulets, as well as bullets and football betting lists.

Prajak, originally from Mahasarakham province, confessed that he had stolen many items from shops and houses in areas including Sanpatong, Sankampaeng, Saraphee and Hang Dong districts, on at least  13 separate occasions.

He said he had sold stolen items to raise money for a 100,000 baht dowry so he could marry the woman he is in love with. He had almost raised enough for the dowry when he was arrested, he said.
