CityNews – Famous violinist turned sports star Vanessa Mae was part of Thailand’s skiing team at the 2014 Winter Olympics, but unfortunately finished with the slowest time out of the 74 skiers, with a time of 3 minutes and 26.97 seconds over two runs.

The Singaporean-born British musician – who is one of the richest in the world – said after the race, “… I support animal charities. My main purpose for being here was to really have a good time, to improve my skiing… and to help some animals out there.”

Overall, she still did better than 15 racers who did not finish their runs. “The Olympics is the greatest show on Earth and to just share the same snow [with elite skiers] is just an honour and a privilege.”
