Ekachai Wannarit, the owner of Eak Service and Rent on Maneenopparat Road, said the man has yet to return a motorcycle valued at more than 50,000 baht that he rented on July 3.

The man, who is aged around 60 to 65, walked into the shop wearing a hooded sweatshirt and glasses. He said he didn’t have his passport with him, but gave staff a photocopy which showed he was a Spanish national named Juan Andres Zaragosa. Police believe the passport, or the copy, was forged.

The same man is also believed to have stolen a motorcycle worth more than 70,000 baht from the R-ree Doi Cafe in Prapokklao Road. He walked into the café last Friday, asked to rent it for three days at a cost of 350 baht per day, and handed over a copy of the same passport.

Ekachai told reporters that another foreigner had stolen a motorbike from another rental shop in the same way. He believed both Thais and foreigners were involved in the thefts, and that the motorcycles would be sold or pawned.

Anyone with information can call Amornpan Tankam-ai of the R-ree Doi Cafe on 089 999 9045. A small reward is offered for information leading to the suspect’s arrest.
