CityNews – A thief dressed in monks’ robes stole 30,000 baht from a spa in the Nimmanhaemin area, staff told CityNews today.

The theft occurred at around 7pm on Wednesday after the suspect walked in and ordered a large amount of spa products – including soap, hand creams and oils – saying they were a present for a senior monk.

CCTV footage shows that while staff were packing the products, he walked to the counter, opened a drawer and took a bag containing around 30,000 baht, before leaving the premises.

The spa does not wish to be named, but its public relations manager told CityNews that after reporting the incident to police, staff were informed that the suspect has a long criminal record. He was reportedly arrested in March for stealing money and Buddhist amulets from a monk.

The suspect is said to be just 17 years old and to have a “girlish appearance”. Anyone with information can call Phuping Rajanivej Police Station on 053 21 92269.
