Events Lined Up to Celebrate HM the Queen’s Birthday

CityNews –  A series of celebrations will take place at Chiang Mai’s Royal Park Ratchapruek for the 82nd birthday of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit on Tuesday.

Among the activities will be an offering of floral arrangements to a royal portrait, which will be attended by representatives of the private and public sector, the National News Bureau of Thailand (NNBT) reported.

There will also be a candle-lighting ceremony where attendants can offer blessings to Her Majesty, followed by a series of firework shows. Members of the public are invited to attend the event, which is free of charge, from 6-8pm on Tuesday.

The park is also hosting the ‘Color in the Rain Festival’, featuring an array of tropical plants, until the end of September.

Meanwhile, an academic seminar on the ginger plant will be held at Chiang Mai’s Botanic Hotel next Friday, August 15, NNBT reported.

The seventh International Symposium on the Family Zingiberaceae is being held in celebration of Her Majesty the Queen’s birthday and the 60th birthday of HRH Maha Chakri Sinrindhorn. The theme of the event is “Gingers for Life”, and it will be attended by ginger experts and enthusiasts.
