CityNews – The driver of a Mercedes-Benz had a narrow escape when it caught fire after he lost control and crashed into several parked vehicles in Mae Hia district last night.
Police and fire crews were alerted to the incident, which occurred at around 11pm near the entrance to the Night Safari. When they arrived, the car was engulfed in flames.
The driver escaped with minor cuts and bruises. No one else was injured.
Witnesses said the Mercedes, which appeared to have a problem with a tyre, had careered into cars and motorbikes parked outside a roadside restaurant before crashing into a fence. The crash caused fuel leakage that resulted in the engine quickly catching fire.
Police are investigating the cause, but said it was probably an accident.
