Doi Inthanon staff have begun to turn on water sprinklers around Kew Mae Pan at dawn in the hope that the cold weather will cause the water to freeze on the ground, creating a manmade frost.

They hope to attract more tourists with the ‘frost’ – and if the trials are successful, will conduct similar fake frost projects across the mountain.

According to reports, over 7,000 Thai visitors visited the park, along with 550 foreign tourists on January 10 alone.

Each year the park receives many more tourists during the winter season than any other time of the year.
