CityNews – New bicycle routes are being planned for Chiang Mai in a bid to increase safety for cyclists and promote tourism.

This sign tells drivers to be aware of cyclists and pedestrians.

Vice-governor Chana Pangpibun announced that the Chiang Mai Road Safety Centre is holding a discussion on the new bike trails project, the National News Bureau of Thailand reported.

The centre wants members of the public to brainstorm measures to prevent road accidents involving bicycles, to encourage people to use them more.

To begin with, three main routes are being considered – one covering all the main roads in the city, one going around the moat, and another covering tourist attractions.
