Officers had been investigating many cases of stolen mobile phones in the district for the past month before they arrested Chatchapong Saengla, 27, and his partner Chutikarn Duangjai, 22. They also seized a mobile phone and a motorbike.
A bag of cash was stolen at the Siam Massage parlour on August 4, and CCTV footage showed a man and woman leaving the scene on a red and white motorbike. The police later identified the thieves and issued arrest warrants.
On Tuesday a mobile phone was reported stolen at the Small World Bar on Loi Kroh Road. Police discovered the couple had entered the bar claiming that they were officials inspecting copyright licences of songs. When they left, the owner realised the phone was gone.
Police suspected that it was the same couple and showed pictures to the owners, who agreed. The offenders were apprehended on the same day outside Sompet Market, and were found to have many mobile phones in their possession, including the one taken from Small World Bar.
Chatchapong and Chutikarn confessed that they had stolen many mobile phones and tablet computers as well as cash since July.
