Cops Nab Drug Mule at Checkpoint

CityNews – Police arrested a man found to be transporting around 500,000 yaba pills in Chiang Mai on Tuesday.They discovered the haul while inspecting vehicles at a checkpoint in ampoe Chaiparakan. After stopping a ten-wheeled lorry heading from Fang to Muang Chiang Mai, police discovered around 500,000 pills hidden under a pile of plastic crates used for transporting perishable foods, in a rucksack and in two black waste bags.
The driver, 32-year-old Nattapong Kumdee, provided correct paperwork but police decided to search the vehicle after he began acting suspiciously.
Nattapong admitted to being a mule, transporting drugs for money. He denies any knowledge of the drug trade, saying he was told to drop off the drugs in Bangkok for someone to collect. The case is ongoing.
