CityNews – A Chinese woman was arrested on Sunday for stealing a phone at Chiang Mai Airport.

Chew Ming, 22, took the phone after its Spanish owner left it in a basket when he went through the X-ray machine before boarding a flight to Bangkok, reports said.
The 39-year-old tourist gave police his phone number and the phone’s serial number when he realised it was missing minutes later. Officials then studied CCTV footage, which showed Chew taking the phone from the basket. She also left her purse at the scene.
The officials waited until Chew turned up to claim her purse, then they asked for permission to examine her bag and saw the iPhone inside.
Chew, from Sichuan, confessed to taking the phone. She is still in Thailand awaiting a hearing at the provincial court, police said.
