Al Jazeera Journalist Killed by a Bus in Bangkok

CityNews — A bus ran over and killed journalist Metee Mooktaree in Bangkok on Thursday, 5th June.

Metee, who had been recently assigned to cover the Thai coup for Al Jazeera, was run over by the bus in the early hours of the morning while crossing the street in Phloen Chit.

The accident happened in the small hours near Phloen Chit BTS Station. The Route 511 bus crashed into Mathi, aged 34, who was also editor in chief and an announcer for the White Channel TV station in addition to his new duties as a freelancer for Al Jazeera.

Witnesses told the police that Metee was first hit by a taxi, which in turn pushed him under the bus. The Thailand Volunteer Rescue unit took him to the Police General Hospital but sadly he died on the way.

Metee  who is also known as Felix Abdul Colic – was a Muslim Thai national (according to his Twitter page) and a seasoned journalist. His relatives have been notified by the Lumpini Police and he will be buried today in Bangkok.
