8 Million Yaba Pills and Other Narcotics Seized in The North

CityNews – On July 2nd the Military in Chiang Mai disclosed they have seized more than 8 million pills along with a selection of military-grade weapons after cracking down on criminal activities in the area.

Raids in over 20 districts in the provinces of Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phayao, Nan, Uttaradit and Phitsanulok have resulted in over 8 million pills seized. Included in the seizures are other drugs such as 400kg of ICE and 300kg of heroine. Region 5 police found over 300,000 Yaba pills on a local road in the province of Lampang yesterday.

Over 170 firearms were also acquired, with over 4,000 rounds of ammunition and thousands of explosives.

The crackdown on illegal activities in the North has been hailed as a success, but far from over. Over 145 illegal workers from Myanmar, Laos, North Korea and Vietnam were also deported.
