CityNews – Chiang Mai Irrigation workers removed a large amount of water hyacinth weighing in at around 400 tons from the Tha Wang floodgate on June 9th. The project intends to continue the removal of the rapid sprouting plant every four months in order to increase the floodgate’s drainage ability.
The organic material can also be composted and reused in agricultural work thus saving costs on manufacturing.
The area in front of Tha Wang floodgate was surveyed and found to be overgrown by the plant, and a large amount of water hyacinth still needs to be removed. Workers will continue the removal over the next few days.
