Today’s Covid numbers from the response centre

The Covid-10 Response Centre has announced that 18 people have tested positive today, maintaining a lower number under 50 newly infected per day for the ninth day in a row.

As of yesterday, 3,243 of those infected in Chiang Mai have now tested negative and returned home with only 679 remaining in quarantine or under treatment.

Of those, 54 have serious symptoms while 13 are in critical condition.

Most of the recent cases have come from infected household members, private parties, illegal gambling dens and markets, while there have been no new cases of infection from entertainment venues or work places.

There continues to be spot checks of at-risk groups, with 80 food delivery people from Line Man being tested yesterday, results pending.

So far 43,000 people over the age of 60, as well as those suffering from one of the seven serious conditions set by the government, have been registered for vaccination in Chiang Mai. The vaccinations will commence on the 7th of June.

A 65 year old woman suffering from diabetes is reported to have died yesterday after travelling to a high risk province and returning with the virus. She first exhibited symptoms on the 13th April, succumbing to lung infections yesterday.
