Prison numbers still alarming

The Covid Response Centre today announced that only three new cases of the virus were reported with another six people having returned home from hospitals, bringing the number of those currently infected to 83.

As to the ‘Bubble and Seal’ system which has been implemented in the Chiang Mai Central Prison where the virus has been spreading rapidly, authorities say that the situation is still of concern, but getting better.

According to today’s report, of the 6,504 men in the Chiang Mai Central Prison, 4,170 have been infected to date. Of that number, 216 are currently under treatment in the prison field hospital or related centres, seven are currently being treated in outside hospitals, and three have died.
