Photographs from the field hospital show some of the 100 medical staff taking short breaks between shifts, as many say that they have resigned themselves to missing out on the holidays this year.

Tidaporn Monkolwat, a nurse from Om Koi Hospital who has been on duty at the field hospital since the beginning of April, has had her duties extended until the end of the month due to high demand.

“I am happy to stay on,” she said, going on to say that she was due home last week but she didn’t get to go and is now going to Facetime her family instead. I am sad not to see them as this is the time of the year when I normally visit all of my relatives and pay respect to them, but we are in an emergency and I must do my duty. We don’t have much down time here at all, but when we do we tend to eat together and chat. Those of us off duty get to rotate to nearby hospital accommodation.”
