CityNews – 30th March 2020, Kad Nam Tong, or Kad Suan Chao, a popular market in Hang Dong has come out to correct fake news which was swirling around the area that someone had recently visited the market with Coronavirus.
The owner of the market went to reporters and the police to complain about a fake news which had been circulating that his market was a hotbed for the virus.
He said that he knows who made up this news and why, claiming that the husband of an egg vendor at the market was a known cock fighter. Out of an abundance of caution, the owner of the market had asked the egg vendor to not come to the market for two weeks, telling her to quarantine herself and her husband as he suspected that the cockfighting dens could be a place where the virus could spread. Out of anger at being shut out of the market, according to the owner, the husband put out this fake news. 
He said that it had ruined his market’s reputation and had affected the livelihoods of many vendors who saw a sharp decrease in customers.
