Governor Charoenrit Sanguansat held a meeting this morning at Nakorn Ping Hospital where he announced that Chiang Mai will begin to vaccinate high-risk individuals, in accordance with the Public Health’s Ministry’s target to begin vaccinating in 13 provinces.
A total of 200,000 doses of the Sinovac vaccine has arrived in Thailand.
Chiang Mai has received 3,500 doses which will be initially used for the people most at risk.
The ‘at risk’ people selected to receive the vaccine this March are between the ages of 18-59, and there will be 1,750 people in this age group vaccinated first. They will mainly be frontline workers such as medical professionals (1,450) and officials exposed to potential virus (300 people).
The next batch of 32,000 vaccines will be administered in April for 16,000 people and in May 24,000 people will receive the vaccine.
The Nakornping Hospital will contact people in the first stages, inviting them to come to take the vaccine, and later on when there are more vaccines available, the Public Health office will make public announcements to manage the vaccination of the entire population. Appointments and announcements will be made via applications and Line announcements.
