Welcome to our New Online Home!

 |  March 5, 2015

Phew! It has been a monumental job, but we are so happy to be here, and welcome to our new home online.

Citylife magazine started as the parochial sounding Chiang Mai Newsletter in 1992, a thin black and white publication aimed at the small expatriate population of Chiang Mai at the time. In those days, you see, there were no resources in English for northern residents pertaining to the north, the only news and information came from Bangkok, and was rarely relevant to us up here – it was the pre-dawn of the internet era!

In 1998 we went online when we launched the first incarnation of this web site. Our aim was to not only provide our magazine’s content to our online readers, but much more information relevant to those living in and visiting Chiang Mai. We immediately sat at the top of the search engines, where we have remained ever since, being the most visited English language web site in the north of Thailand. In 2005 our CityNow! web site and events guide was launched, where upcoming events were posted as well as photographs of events past. In 2011 we started to provide online news, at CityNews the first daily updated (except holidays) English language news source. Under a year ago we also launched a bilingual food magazine, Spoon & Fork whose content will as of now be found online.

We are proud to present this interactive new web site which combines all of the above content into one easy-to-use web site. This is only phrase one of the site’s development and in the next few weeks and months we will be rolling out many new features and functions. As we aim to be the online source of information and news, as well as entertainment, for our hundreds of thousands of readers, I would be very grateful for all of your constructive comments and suggestions, so that we can continue to improve to meet your needs.

My hope is that you will wake up in the morning, sit down for breakfast and read the news on your smart phone (yes, we are mobile super-friendly), get into work and take a coffee break while checking out your photos from last night’s event. Browse our articles throughout the day and return to check in to see what is happening this evening or in the upcoming weekend. We will have news, articles, travel stories, interviews, reviews as well as translate Thai trends, social media points of interest and viral stories so that you can know what is going on in Thailand as well as fun photos, information and a whole lot more.

Hope to see you here often!
