PTIS International student qualifies for prestigious golf tournament in the USA
Es and Smart, PTIS students and Team Elite players from the Three-Generation Golf Academy, made impressive finishes at the final 2011 Optimist Championship Qualifier held in Patana, Chonburi. Es took second place (79, 72, 75, 75) in the Boy’s 16-18 division; the winner of the event was an eighteen year old boy from the Thai National Team. Smart placed fourth runner up in the boys 14-15 Division with a final score of 72, 79, and 72. Es’s second place finish earned him a personal invitation to participate in the prestigious 2011 Optimist International Junior Golf Championships at PGA National Resort & Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, USA. The event will take place on July 21-31, 2011.
Commonly referred to as simply ‘The Optimist,’ the Optimist International Junior Golf Championships is one of the largest and most prestigious junior golf events in the world. The championships will involve 660 junior golfers, ages 10-18, from throughout the United States and from more than 25 other countries around the world. Es is the second TGGA Team Elite player to have been invited to this event.
Gary Close picked up his second ‘Little Man’ at Highlands by a count back from Grant Hawkes. Four pars in a row from the 3rd hole, a tough stretch on the Highlands layout, set the foundation for Gary’s win. That combined with parring the 17th and 18th holes. You have to finish strongly given the count back rules and Gary was one over for the last three holes versus Grants score of three over.

• CHIANG MAI FC
Before the season break, Chiang Mai FC lost 4 games in a row. 2-4 to Songkhla FC, 0-1 to PTT Rayong, 0-2 to Rajpracha FC Thailand and 1-2 to Bangkok FC. Their position is now 16th of 18. During the season break, CMFC have planned to buy new players to boost the team and avoid relegation.

• AKIDO

• SOFTBALL
Weather permitting softball is on every Sunday at the Payap fields. Pick-up games begin at 1:30 p.m. or as soon as they have 16 willing participants. They add to the teams as people arrive up to a maximum of 11 a side. They play on their own field by the entrance to Payap University.
